Stepping Into Confidence: My Boudoir Experience

I recently had the joy of working again with one of my returning clients — someone I’ve had the honor of photographing multiple times now. Each session with her brings something new: a deeper confidence, a different energy, and a beautiful reminder of why I love this work so much.

She shared a few words about her experience that truly touched me:

“As a woman that has dealt with body image issues her whole life, I can say without a doubt that these photoshoots that I have done with Nikki have been the best way to freely express my beauty, femininity and strength. I cannot think of a reason to not have her capture me with her lens and make me art. What an amazing feeling to see yourself the way someone else might and think, ‘Well that woman is courageous and beautiful.’ Nikki has helped me see myself for who I am with her work, I am grateful.”

Reading her words stopped me in my tracks. This is exactly why I do what I do.

Boudoir isn’t just about pretty lingerie or posing a certain way — it’s about connection, confidence, and seeing yourself in a new light. Watching someone go from nervous and unsure to bold and radiant in front of the camera is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

To my incredible client, thank you for trusting me again and again. Your courage and openness remind me why I fell in love with this work in the first place.

Here’s to every woman who steps in front of the camera — nervous, brave, imperfect, and absolutely stunning.

A REPEAT CLIENT AND HER REVIEW {New Hampshire Boudoir

“I have worked with Nichole more than once, and I can not speak more highly of my experience with her. Not only are the finished images incredible, but she makes you feel so comfortable from start to finish. It's a special gift to be able to help women see the best versions of themselves, and fall even more deeply in love with who they are, and Nichole has this ability in spades. You will not regret having a session with her even a tiny bit. It is one of the most empowering things you could do! I know I will be back for another session some day.”

Before + After Photoshop/Posing { New Hampshire Boudoir}

I often get asked to what extent I will retouch images. Also, the next followup question is that they have never posed before and will I be able to work with them. These are great questions so I created this blog article to show you examples of both.

Retouching can be quite aggressive or just a light touch. I always retouch anything that is considered non-permanent. This would include but not limited to acne and bruises. I will soften or remove cellulite when requested. My philosophy is to keep it as minimal as possible. I will not change your body shape, however if a bra strap is too tight then I will fix any bulges that result. This is where properly fitted clothes is essential.

Preparing for a session can help to minimize some concerns. Drink plenty of water at least a week before, avoid tan lines or get a professional tan spray the week before, and make sure items fit properly. I highly recommend seeing an Esthetician to discuss breakouts and dry skin. This can take several visits to really take care of your skin.

Remember that hair + makeup is provided at the studio before your boudoir session. I use amazing artists in the area that will discuss the look you desire.

When I mention my job I usually get a response like, “I could never do that, I don’t have the right body shape” or “I wouldn’t know how to pose”. Boudoir is for EVERYONE. You are posed from head to toe. I even hop on the couch and show you the pose. This usually gets us laughing because I am a dork. Below is an example of what an un-posed butt looks like and then the after. It is all in the arch for this image. If you cannot arch then I will show you how to get close to a similar pose by pushing with your knees.
